We are a group of healthcare professionals that are fed up with the status quo. Collectively, we have spent over 100 years leading and working in the healthcare system. We have also spent over 50 years working in other industries that are market driven. We have seen healthcare’s flaws up close but challenged on how to effect real change until we started identifying root causes. This got us to where we are today. While we identified a number of root causes, one core issue stood out: the healthcare system is not designed with the patient and their family in mind. We believe no matter how much marketing material has been produced to the contrary, the patient is not in fact at the center. The health plans, hospitals, physicians, pharmaceutical companies are all fighting over who gets what dollar, with the human and their loved ones often along for the ride, even though it is their life at stake in many cases. We fundamentally view this as unacceptable and that is why we formed the nonprofit FixTheSystemOrDieTrying.

Transparently we don’t know where this effort will lead us. Many past efforts have failed, but we do believe if we start with what good looks like from the perspective of the human using the system, that will provide a foundation to build upon and effect real change.
